New Veterinary Medicines Regulations now in force
New legislation now in force in Great Britain makes changes to the requirements set out in the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013.
The Parliamentary debates on the draft Regulations, which amends the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013 in respect of Great Britain, took place in April.
Both Houses have now approved the Veterinary Medicines (Amendment etc.) Regulations 2024.
You can find the legislation at: The Veterinary Medicines (Amendment etc.) Regulations 2024 (legislation.gov.uk).
We publicly consulted on the changes in 2023, details of which can be found under the VMR Consultation, including the Government Response to the consultation.
The aim of the consultation started on 17 January is to seek views on proposals to revise charges paid by participants in the National Residues Control Programme.
The consultation has been launched jointly between UK, Scottish and Welsh Government.

The VMD's questionnaire to obtain views on the Animals and Animal Products Regulations of 2015 (AAPR) has now closed.
The AAPR is an important piece of legislation which enables the sampling of products of animal origin to test for residues of prohibited substances, veterinary medicines, and contaminants. This programme of work not only provides assurances about GB foodstuffs to domestic consumers, but also to international trading partners.
The questionnaire and related documents can be accessed through Citizen Space.
